What have been some of your career highlights?

Marrying Nancy Worthmann in 1968 was the smartest decision of my life. She was my best friend and a great partner. We were together for 57 years. We raised two smart and capable women. Both daughters earned advanced degrees and both have responsible jobs in education.

Retiring (gradually) while still teaching hypnotic psychotherapy, marital and Individual therapy.
International presentations, graduate seminars and workshops, publications and 50+ years as a mental health professional. "Who's Who" in American Universities and Colleges 1970-71".
Husband (widower), father and grandfather to some rather wonderful little (soon to be bigger) young people.

What talents have you developed that your classmates would be surprised to learn?

Hypnotherapist,psychotherapist and song writer (49 so far).

What is your favorite memory of Rich East? Your least favorite?

Vice President Jr. class with Seth Eisener and Faith Cook and freshman football. Folk Trio in choir.
Least favorite experience was sophomore football. I quit before season started. One coach, in particular,got away with physical and emotional abuse.

Biographical sketch of your life from 1963 to the present:

Went to Cornell college in Iowa and finished freshman year. Transferred to U. of Iowa. Dropped out middle of first semester. Went to therapy and then Europe. Bought two motorcycles and traveled for 9 months, lived with five different families and fell in love with a Swedish girl...all by the age of 20. Came home met my wife to be Nancy and finished undergraduate degree, quickly followed by a Masters Degree in counseling psychology. Met Nancy & married in 1968 at age 23 and began working in a community mental health center on Chicago's north side in 1971. Nancy & I had our first child in 1973 and our second in 1975. I finished my doctorate in clinical psychology in 1981 and began a full time private psychotherapy practice in 1981. I am now all but retired from my private practice. Still conducting workshops in Mexico & Guatemala.

Happy birthday Sue. I hope you're doing well out there in the high plains of Colorado. I still hold onto the idea that I'm gonna take you up on your offer to visit. I'm still struggling with living alone without Nancy after a year and a half. It's more like an existential issue for me. How do I want to live the rest of my life?

I didn't know Dick very well but I always got a good feeling about him as a personality.

I'm sorry for his family and friends. I hope their grieving is cathartic for them.

Hi Joe,
This is Dave Clayton. Apparently I signed up for the 60th reunion 4/18/23 and pd. $160.00 via my debit card. I recently received a request from you via USPS to pay for the union via check. Should I conclude that this was a redundancy and that I'm all signed up. In april I made my hotel reservations too.
Please let me know if I'm already on the books.

My wife Nancy died in Cork Ireland as we were walking. She quickly slipped into a coma before reaching a hospital. After surviving 30 hours, she died early on June 24 from a massive cerebral bleed. We were celebrating our 50 wedding anniversary, albeit four years late. Yesterday we would have been married 54 years. She was my best friend, lover and life partner. I met her when I was 20 years old and we married three years later. She is terribly missed by me, her daughters, grandsons and granddaughter. She taught art in Jr. High for 35 years. She was an artist in her own right, strongly influenced by Georgia O'Keeffe. Her rather large paintings of women emerging hung in the waiting room of my home office. For those of my classmates who have lost a loving spouse, my heart goes out to you.
