In Memory

Peter Andersen

Peter Andersen

Pete was a good friend of mine and we kept in contact over the years. Pete passed away from liver cancer about March of 2015 in Fort Worth, Texas. I attended his funeral. He is buried in The National Cemetery in Dallas. Pete and I served in the Marine Corps together 1963 to 1967. We both served in Viet Nam and were in Marine Aviation. After his discharge he attended college in Illinois and took a masters in finance. Sometime in in 1980's he and his wife (Brenda Lloyd) moved to Fort Worth, Texas. He had 3 children with Brenda. After they divorced he remarried and had 2 more children. This marriage also ended in divorce. Pete was just meant to be a single man. He enjoyed his freedom. All his children still live in the Fort Worth area. Randy Lutes

So very sorry to read this post.  Hugs to all who knew and loved Peter.  Thanks to him for his service to our country during that very unsettling time.  So many of our Vietnam Veterans were not revered enough.  So many were forgotten.

Sorry to hear about Peter's death. I didn't really know Peter. Like with other classmates who served in  VietNam, so many were expose to chronic trauma and many developed PTSD as a result. As a mental health professional just starting out in the early 70's, many returning Vets were misdiagnosised and not properly treated. They struggled in many of their intimate relationships and many ended up alienated from the very society they served to protect. For that I am sorry and, if Peter experiened combat related PTSD, I hope he and his family did benifet from some kind of therapy.
