In Memory

Jon Aschemeyer

Jon Aschemeyer

Aschemeyer, Jon A. 68, of Blue Eye, MO passed away at home on December 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.F. and Gladys Oly Aschemeyer and is survived by his daughter Jayme A. Aschemeyer, son Matthew Aschemeyer, sister Karen Hand, brother B. Kim Aschemeyer, and longtime friends Stephen and Donna Glenn. Jon was born in St. Louis, MO, attended high school in Wallingford, PA before attending Marquette University. During his lifetime, Jon was employed most notably at Eastern Airlines, United Airlines and FedEx. He also ran his own consulting firm, which he continued upon retiring to reside near Table Rock Lake. Jon was described by friends and neighbors alike as friendly, helpful, caring, intelligent, informed, humorous, generous, and an unbending defender of his values and beliefs. He loved playing bridge, watching sports, gardening and being outdoors. He battled pancreatic cancer for 21 months and during that time proved himself to be courageous and determined to enjoy and truly live life. He never complained, he never backed down - he fought bravely and tenaciously until the very end. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to any organization helping humanity; Jon himself was a supporter of Wounded Warriors, St. Jude's, and the Pat Tillman foundation. Services: A private ceremony will be held in the summer of 2014 for a celebration of Jon's life.

So very sorry to hear that the world has lost Jon Aschemeyer, the gentle giant.  I had kept in touch with Jon for many years, even visiting him for a few days at his home in Philadelphia on my way to NY back in the mid-60's.  We enjoyed a delightful time touring all of the historic sites in and around the City.  Jon became a long-distance truck driver and seemed to enjoy traveling back and forth across the Midwest.  Rest in peace, my friend.

I got to know Jon when we played ball together. I think Peggy got it right with the phrase "gentle giant"

Jon was just a nice guy. Sorry to hear of his passing.

That is sad news. Jon was a kind, thoughtful person, and there were many times when I wondered where he went after leaving REHS.He was a person who stayed in my mind through the years, in part, because we had a brief relationship which was cut short because my parents had strict rules about me dating anyone until I reached a certain age. Jon was special.

Jon was, indeed, a special fellow.  He had a way of making people smile and I can still close my eyes and see his bright face.  I'm so sorry to hear he has left us and hope he is at peace.
