PATRICIA DIETRICH is fondly remembered for the Folk-Singing parties at her house. She left Rich at the end of our Junior Year when she was accepted into Shimer College through their early admissions program. She died in 2007. Here are her sister Robin’s words about Patti’s life:

“I think Ruth Goldberger Sterlin got it about right when she described Patricia (who preferred to go by the name Trish) as a free spirit.  She lived many places during her life time, including Spain and Germany where she became fluent in both languages.  She did not marry, but she had several long-time serious relationships.  Her final years were spent first in Olympia Fields where she moved after my mother died, but ultimately she was drawn to the Southwest, in part because she shared our mother's long-term interest in Native Americans.  She worked on the Navaho reservation for a while but then opened a gift store and cafe in Southeastern Utah near Bryce Canyon.  Her specialty was Native American arts.  When she became ill with end-stage liver disease, probably due to Hepititis C acquired as a result of a blood transfusion, she came to live with us.  She was on the list for a liver transplant, but it did not come in time, and she died from complications of the disease on March 27, 2007.  If her classmates want to do anything to remember her, it would be to list themselves as organ donors.  There are simply not enough organs available for those who need them.”
