Mel Nova, our student council president, died in a climbing accident in his adopted state of Colorado in 1976 or '77. He and I were best friends for a number of years. I have fond memories of taking the train into the Loop, wandering around the Plaza on Friday evenings, and attending Hebrew School and Sabbath School together.
