Dan drove me home from something or other, maybe some folksong thing, one night. I was completely non-observant about driving and traffic. Dan mentioned that somebody had flashed their lights at him. Didn't mean a thing to me. He & I just kept talking about whatever we'd been talking about before. Somebody else flashed their lights. Then another somebody. Our conversation continued. Then another lightflash. Dan said, "OOOOOH, I don't have my LIGHTS on! I WONDERED why people were flashing their lights!" He let out the heartiest long laugh I'd ever heard in my life. You couldn't help laughing along with Dan. Wherever he is, I'll bet everyone is still laughing along with him.
