George passed away on February 8, 2008.  He served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, from 1963 to 1986, achieving the rank of E-8 (Senior Chief Petty Officer).

George was one of my good buddies during high school. We both lived in the Eastgate section of town. He lived on Apache Street and I lived on Algonquin. We went through grammer school and junior high together before high school. George was always a lot of fun to be around. I remember during senoir year he had an old 1953 Buick. Sometimes a few of us would cut our last class of the day and pile in the old Buick with George driving. We would all crouch down in the seats as we passed by the Industrial Arts shop and the vigilant shop teacher watching for guys doing what we were doing. George would be crouched as low as possible just peeking over the dash as he drove out of the lot. It was always so funny.

I was impressed to learn of George's success in the Navy and becoming a Senoir Cheif Petty Officer. I was saddened to learn of his passing. I would have loved seeing him again, maybe more than anyone else. Rest in peace, Buddy!

George was my first date - in Junior High School. He was such a good guy! Lucky me to have known him!
